About the community

Between what is passing and what is being born

History does not move evenly. There are periods when familiar frames of reference no longer explain the world, and society must rethink its own values, ideas and future.

It is this state that we call Interregnum — the time between.

Our community emerged as a space for people who are not satisfied with ready-made answers. We turn to the intellectual heritage of the past, examine the processes of the present and seek new ways of understanding the world.

We believe that culture, knowledge and free thought help us find our bearings even in times of the deepest uncertainty.

Four dimensions of the community

I

Publishing

Books that preserve ideas, rediscover forgotten texts and offer new readings of our intellectual heritage.

II

Journal

Columns, essays, analysis and research at the crossroads of philosophy, history, culture and the present.

III

Focus — Lectures

Lectures, seminars and meetings with scholars and authors for those who seek a deeper understanding of difficult questions.

IV

Polis — Public Debates

Open debates and conversations in which differing views become the basis for reasoned dialogue.

Manifesto

Not every age knows where it is heading.

We do not look for simple explanations of a complex world. We do not consider the past finally overcome, nor the future predetermined.

We choose inquiry over dogma, argument over slogan, dialogue over intellectual isolation.

INTERREGNUM is a space where the memory of the past becomes a starting point for thinking about the future.
